What happened: Hi my name is Kelly Walker. I contacting Overstock to discuss a unique circumstance with a product I purchased quite some time ago. This is the Roundhill counter height faux marble * piece dining set in brown*black. I purchased, assembled, wrote a review stating I liked the product, but had concerns with the way the manufacturers screws didn't seem to be secure or safely hold the table top to the base. The table has never been used....not once. I purchased it in February ****, which is not in the standard return refund policies, but my situation with the product also is not "standard". I finally was able to rent my own apartment for my son and I. My son has Autism Spectrum Disorder, is non verbal, and although he is the most amazing, beautiful, lovable, and just overall the most incredible young man I have ever known, and I am beyond blessed that he is my son and I am his mother. Despite all of the wonderful things Blake, my son, adds to my life there are also several challenges that come with raising a child with ASD, but it truly is all worth it. So although I have been renting our apartment since December **** Blake and I still do not live there. We currently live with my mother*Blake's Mimi directly across the street from our new apartment and have lived there for the majority of Blake's life. To Blake that is his home, he is so comfortable there, loves that Mimi is there, and has not at all adjusted or will spend much time in our new apartment without waiting at the door to go home...Mimi's house. We have spent so much time there, made sure his new bedroom has so many unique sensory items like light projectors, different colors, textures, a sensory swing installed in the ceiling, etc...still not home. So the entire point of all this backstory is that yes I have been renting our apartment since Dec **** neither Blake or myself have ever slept there, ir have lived there in any way shape or form. Everything is brand new, and I appreciate the security of having it, it is unfortunate that we haven't been able to enjoy it yet...life adjustments like this will take time, and I am excited for the day to come when it is our home. So with all of the background story I would like to ask what can I do, is there someone specific I should contact, or how to I go about finding a solution to the Roundhill counter height table I purchased forever ago in Feb ****. This table has never ever not once been used. It basically sits in an empty apartment, and has completely fallen apart. The stools*tall chairs that are part of the set are still in perfect condition, very sturdy, and I know I have sat on a couple of them when I am trying to decorate, keep clean, just spend a few moments there, but this table has to be defective. The entire table top has come off and is totally unattached to the base, the screws will not stay in the designated holes, and when I try to reattach the top the immediately fall out. I realize this is an extremely long timeframe to report this defective table, but with all of the information I gave you regarding how it has been sitting unused in an empty apartment since the day it arrived and I assembled it. I am ******% certain had my son and I lived there, and used the table at all I would have been reaching out regarding this matter within *weeks max. I should have reported it immediately when I noticed and wrote in my product review the manufactures screws seemed lose, and I had concerns. Given the unique circumstances that this product has been assembled, and left untouched, unused in an empty apartment yet is completely broken I do believe there should be some sort of accomidating compromise or a complete disregard as far as return redund defective product policies go. Please understand that I have spent over $*** on a table that broke apart from pre design setup, not what I had as part of the assembly process, while sitting in an empty apartment, never used, and fell apart while just standing alone in a small dining area. I hope that with the circumstances that any policy will be null and void due to a clearly definitive and broken product. This would have been brought to your attention in Feb **** if my life circumstances weren't so challenging*difficult. With that being said the product is completely unsafe broken defective and I should not have to punished due to my son's challenges and difficulties adapting to his new home. I should be compensated regardless of any policies in place, and can and will happily prove that we have not spent * night, had * meal, or been in that apartment more than *hrs here and there. I truly hope someone will come to the reasonable conclusion that my living situation is out of my hands, however when purchasing a $*** table it should not break without being used daily and have extreme wear and tear.
